Clubs SA Membership June 2026

Justin Liu, Membership Operations Manager

With over 460 Member Clubs, Clubs SA is proud to continue representing and supporting our member clubs and celebrating new additions to the community.

South Australian Amateur Soccer League - SAASL

Over the past six months, the relationship between Clubs SA and the South Australian Amateur Soccer League has continued to grow, with more than eight SAASL-affiliated clubs joining Clubs SA membership.

This growth highlights the value SAASL clubs are seeing in the support and services provided by Clubs SA, including Liquor Licensing assistance with applications and compliance, club governance support, and access to practical resources to help strengthen club operations.

Clubs SA looks forward to continuing to build this strong relationship with SAASL and supporting more community soccer clubs across South Australia.

Membership Compliance obligations

As AGM season approaches for many of our Bowling clubs, Clubs SA would like to remind all Clubs hosting Annual General Meetings of their ongoing obligations under the South Australian Liquor Licensing Act.

It is important that clubs ensure they remain compliant during and following their AGM processes, particularly where committee or board positions change. Clubs are reminded of the following key obligations:

  • Notify Consumer and Business Services (CBS) of any changes to office bearers or committee members where required.
  • Ensure the club maintains the required number of approved Responsible Persons at all trading times.
  • Ensure Responsible Persons are appropriately trained and understand their obligations under the licence.
  • Review and maintain current red line plans, trading hours, and licence conditions.
  • Maintain updated records of committee members and approved persons.
  • Continue compliance with RSA requirements for staff and volunteers serving liquor.
  • Ensure gaming and promotional activities remain compliant with applicable legislation and club licence conditions.

Clubs are encouraged to review their licence conditions following their AGM and contact Clubs SA should assistance or clarification be required.

CEO – Peter Apostolopoulos visits Upper Spencer Gulf Clubs.

Recently, CEO Peter Apostolopoulos and Membership Operations Manager Justin Liu from Clubs SA visited member clubs throughout the Upper Spencer Gulf region.

The visits provided an excellent opportunity to hear directly from clubs about the challenges they face, the support they require, and the opportunities within their communities. The visits also gave Peter and Justin valuable insight into the realities facing regional clubs, while highlighting the many clubs successfully turning challenges into opportunities.
Importantly, it was also a chance to witness firsthand the incredible work of volunteers who continue to make clubs across South Australia such strong and valued community organisations.

Clubs SA remains committed to listening to members, advocating on their behalf, and continuing to provide support and guidance across all regions of the state.

Future CEO Club Visits -Eyre Peninsula & Far West Coast

Clubs SA CEO Peter Apostolopoulos and Membership Operations Manager Justin Liu will be visiting the Eyre Peninsula and Far West Coast regions in early August.

The visits are an opportunity for member clubs to connect directly with Clubs SA, discuss local challenges and opportunities, and share the great work being undertaken within their communities.

If your club would like a visit during the regional trip, please reach out to Clubs SA to arrange a suitable time

RSA Training Reminder

Clubs SA also reminds member clubs to ensure all volunteers and staff involved in the sale, supply, or service of liquor hold a current and approved Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate, as required under the Liquor Licensing Act.

Maintaining current RSA qualifications is an important compliance obligation and assists clubs in promoting safe and responsible service practices within their venues.

If your club requires RSA training, Clubs SA training arm, CHTS, offers both online and face-to-face training sessions to support clubs and volunteers across South Australia.

For further information regarding RSA training opportunities, clubs are encouraged to contact Clubs SA.
