Powering Business Grants – Now Open

Clubs that meet relevant eligibility criteria can now look to apply for the Office for Small & Family Businesses Powering Business Grant.

The current round of funding is open until 31 October 2025 unless funds are exhausted prior.

Funding is available to help upgrade to more energy efficient systems to save on energy bills and contribute towards the goal of a net zero future.

Clubs need to be aware however that funding will be based on a successful applicant getting back up to 50% of the project costs (e.g. if the project cost $10,000 an applicant could seek up to $5,000 in funding). Funding between $2,500 and $75,000 can be sought which means clubs would have to purchase equipment or solutions between $5,000 and $150,000 (ex-GST).

There are several eligibility criteria including but not limited to needing to:

· Hold a valid and active ABN.

· Be a current electricity customer that is connected to the network.

· Be considered a small or medium SA Entity.

· Have an Australia-wide grouped payroll not greater than $18 million in the financial year 2024-25.

· Have annual business turnover of $75,000 or more in the financial year 2024-25

· Be registered for GST at the time the funding round commenced (not-for-profit organisations with annual business turnover between $75,000 and $149,999.99 can apply if not registered for GST however).

· Own or lease the premises where any work or goods will be installed or used.

There are two different funding streams that can be applied for:

1. Solar & battery projects

Solar and battery products must be listed on the Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved product list and be installed by an accredited installer.

Solar panels and inverters will only be eligible when purchased with accompanying battery storage.

2. Energy efficiency projects

Grants are available for equipment or infrastructure upgrades that reduce business energy usage or costs. Examples of what this could be used on includes new refrigeration equipment, building insulation and lighting upgrades. Any interested clubs can find further information here and need to ensure they properly read the guidelines before applying.
